She’s a dynamo of ideas and designs.
At any event Appetizingly Yours is asked to execute—fundraisers to corporate, weddings or birthdays, from 10 people to over 1,000—it is Ingrid von Cube, founder and Creative Director who sits at the helm of a team creating culinary magic unique to Wellington County, where delicate and delectable foods are as much an event, as the event itself.
Just ask Brian Schmeler, head Chef. He’s been at the heart of Ingrid’s creative execution for over 10 years now, undertaking varied occasions such as teaching Russian restaurateurs about catering at the Vancouver Olympics; dishing up food to over 500 people on the Great Wall of China; serving local tastes to the local folks in a farmer’s field. They’re quite the tag team. She works out the theme. Chef Brian works out the food.
In a 7,000 square foot location with kitchens for cooking and baking, space to house props, décor and tableware and overseeing a staff of 13 which can easily swell to 40 on a seasonal basis, Ingrid still manages to grow her own garden. There’s an organic herb garden out back and another three and a half acres her husband plants with unique veggies such as candy cane beets, edible flowers and rainbow chard, to name a few.
And she and her team like to play. Staff lunches happen weekly in a challenge to create dishes featuring a specific ingredient. “I think we’ll go with brussel sprouts this week,” laughs Ingrid. Some might call that a challenge.
